WHERE ARE THE ANGELS?

When will this government stop amusing  us? Today, just as we’ve all expected, we drank the cold juice of a comic flavour from the stable of President Muhamadu Buhari when
the senate president ended our anxiousness by reading out the much awaited ministerial list.  And if you may ask, who are those angels that made it to the top? They are [in no specific order]
1.      Rotimi Amaechi, the immediate past governor of Rivers state, the D.G of Buhari’s campaign organization in the 2015 General elections
2.      Babatunde Raji Fashola, the immediate past governor of Lagos state
3.      Kayode Fayemi, a former governor of Ekiti State
4.      Alhaji Lai Muhamed, the current National publicity secretary of the all Progressives Congress, APC.
5.      Senator Chris Ingige, a former governor of Anambara State
6.      Chief Audu Ogbe, a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
7.      Dr. Ogbonaya Onu,
8.      Mrs Amina Ibrahim
9.      Dr Osagie  Ehaneri
10.  Emmanuel Kachukwu
11.  Eng. Suleiman Adamu
12.  Mrs Kemi Adeosun
13.  Hon. Ahmed Musa Bello
14.  Ibrahim Usman Jibrin
15.  Senator Hadi Sirika
16.  Senator Udo Udoma
17.  Abubakar Malami {SAN}
18.  Abdurahman Bello Dambazzau
19.  Aisha Jumai Al Hassan,
20.  Adebayo Shittu
21.  Solomon Dalong
Though most of the dailies had published this list last week, but I never believed it could be this painfully true. After the confirmation of the list by the senate president, I almost broke down in laughter {Of course not tears} reading it over and over again in disbelieve. Then I asked myself, is this the list that took the president from March when he won the election to 5:PM on the 30TH of September to prepare, where are the technocrats that he said he was searching for to build a team that will bring positive change, and where are the angels and saints, the incorruptible Nigerians that he has spent over five months searching for?
The names I’m seeing here are the usual suspects, the same old wines that are reappearing in new wine bottles. If it took our president five good months to prepare research and produce a list like this very one that an ordinary Nigerian on the street will not spend up to an hour to predict and give their biographies, how long will it take him to fish out those angels, saints, and incorruptible Nigerians that we’ve been hoping for? Taking a critical look at the names in this list, one will not be wrong if he calls it ‘an appreciation list’ because most [if not all] of the names on that list are those who fought tirelessly during the last election to bring down the weak walls of the Jonathan’s administration. That’s why I support and agree with those who believe that this list is just a compensation and a thank you gift to loyal party men and women for their immense support and sponsorship. Its in deed a return on investment.
As we await the second batch of the ministerial list, I urge the APC and president Buhari to remember the good will that they enjoyed from the Nigerian electorates, their campaign promises, and their change slogan. Please do more of the work and less talk. The second batch of ministers should include the angels and saints that you had promised, but if these are your type of angels; please bring back the devils. We voted for change and change we must get. God bless NIGERIA.
