Kano is known as the centre
of commerce and the commercial nerve centre of Northern
Nigeria. The state is populated with large markets where
various
kinds of goods are sold and one amongst these markets is the textile market
known as kantin Kwari (most times pronounced as katin Kori) where dealers of
textile materials all over Nigeria and some neighbouring countries do go to get
their stock. Once you are in the
Kano metropolis, locating
the Kantin Kori market is very easy. Just take a commercial tricycle (Keke
Napep) and tell him to take you to Katin Kori. The market is very close to the
popular Sani Abacha stadium. Once you get there, you will have to swim through
a pool of smaller textile dealers who take joy in flooding the roadside with
their wares. Note that most of the bigger merchants are located deep inside the
market.
Remember to shine your eyes!!!
