WE ALL HATE NIGERIA

WE ALL HATE NIGERIA
One thing we as Nigerians are exceptionally good at is complaining.  We are very good at complaining about everything including nothing. An average Nigerian knows all the problems facing the country; however the missing point has always been the
solution. We criticize without proffering alternative solutions to the flaws we have identified.
It is no longer news that our economy is in recession and things are very difficult for every Nigerian. To this effect, an average Nigerian has turned to a social commentator cum economist who knows what is wrong with every sector of the economy.
Our economic woes have been attributed to the dwindling price of crude oil in the international market and the fall in the value of Naira against other currencies such as the U.S Dollar. The million dollar question is, how did we get to where we are?
Nigeria’s economic woes are the result of our collective decisions and policies as a nation. Though the government should take the bulk of the blame, but however, every Nigerian is to be blamed for our economic problem. As controversial as this may sound, it is only but logical for us all to take a sober reflection on our actions that have contributed in killing our economy over the years.
From the government officials in Aso Rock to the average man on the street, we all hate Nigeria and love other countries. We place value on the greatness of U.S.A Germany, Britain, and China while we look at Nigeria with disdain. We value anything manufactured abroad while those manufactured in Nigeria are seen as substandard. An average Nigerian dreams of visiting the beaches in Florida while classifying the ones in Nigeria as slumps.  Our companies prefer to sponsor European clubs leaving the Nigerian league heavily under funded. Despite the existence of numerous tourist attractions in Nigeria such as the obudu cattle ranch in Cross River state, Yankari Game Reserve in Bauchi State, Osun Oshogbo sacred Grove in Osun State, Ikogosi Warm Spring in Ekiti State Ogbunike Caves in Anambra state and so many others; we prefer Paris, Dubai, South Africa and the rest. We love everything foreign and hate everything with the made in Nigeria label. I will stop here for we all know the rest.
The simple economics here is that, since we love and prefer foreign goods, we will be needing more foreign currencies against our own Naira; hence the Naira will continue to loose value against other currencies. If indeed we claim through  the words of our mouth that we love Nigeria, why should our actions be proving the opposite.
This is 2017, a year that we need to stop hating our country and start showing love to the brand Nigeria. In lieu of this, I am releasing a book on the 25th of January  titled “Beautiful Things About Nigeria” this book will open our eyes to the beauty called Nigeria.
